Student Employment Pathway

Welcome to the Jennings A. Jones College of Business student career and employment services website.  The purpose of this site is to help our students find part-time jobs and internships while enrolled in the Jones College, and full-time positions when they are near graduation, exiting the college, or returning as alumni seeking further career assistance.  Your Jones College of Business faculty advisors will also be pleased to assist you with graduate and professional school applications.

Students can register with the MTSU Career and Employment Center to explore career opportunities and access the following services:

  • Career Planning — including résumé writing, interviewing skills development, and related services.

  • Job Search Services — including eRecruiting registration and résumé referral, employment listings, on-campus interviews, and salary information.

  • Calendar of Events — including career fairs, workshops, and employer campus visits.

Students can contact the Jones College Career Coordinator by email for help in identifying and utilizing both the Jones College’s employment resources and those of the MTSU Career and Employment Center. The Jones College Career Coordinator's office is located in S123 of the Business and Aerospace Building South Lobby. You may telephone the Coordinator at (615) 494-8911.

To meet with the Jones College Academic Advisors, call for an appointment at (615) 898-2764.  You may email the advisors by clicking on the Email Business Advisors link.

Students can contact the departments within the Jones College of Business by clicking on the Academics link.  The department faculty advisors will be listed as well as each department’s website.

INNER CIRCLE NETWORKING

When you are ready to begin a job search, register with eRecruiting, and upload your résumé. Then:

Make a list of all of your own “inner circle contacts” who might help you find a job opening and get an interview.  Specifically; list possible job contacts among:

  • Your own family and relatives

  • Your MTSU friends and their contacts

  • Members of your social groups (churches, fraternities, sororities, teams, clubs, etc.)

  • Your bank, insurance company, and other businesses with which you have contact

Career Fairs

Attend Career Fairs and sign up for on-campus interviews with employers — schedules are posted on the MTSU Career & Employment Center website and on bulletin boards in the Jones College of Business.

Employer Contacts

All positions received by the Career & Employment Center are posted on the Center's website and in notebooks in the Career & Employment Center offices.

Surf the Net

Surf the internet!  The key is to find the best sites for jobs in your areas of specialization. Many of them are linked on the Career & Employment Center website.

Also, see your faculty advisor for links in your professional field of interest.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on finding your new job!  Please inform the MTSU Career & Employment Center about your new position by completing the Job Offer Report Form.

Also, please complete a change of address form for MTSU’s Alumni Office so they can add your new location to their database and send you information about alumni meetings, sport schedules, and other information of interest to alumni.
